principal of KP Landscapes
International Lecturer on Sustainable Exterior & Landscape Design
Mrs. Negru Perrey comes to landscape design from an extensive background in the fine arts and horticulture, the perfect combination for creating smart, beautiful and ecological landscapes. She received both a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography and a Masters degree in Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts. After exhibiting internationally and working as a commercial photographer, an emerging passion for urban landscapes compelled her to direct her talents towards landscape design and horticulture.
While receiving a horticulture degree from UCLA and earning a ‘Master Gardener’ certificate from UC Davis, Mrs. Negru Perrey worked in all areas of landscape installation and maintenance. She gained hands-on experience as crewmember, foreman and later division supervisor for a number of high-end landscape maintenance companies in Southern California. Prior to starting her own company, Mrs. Negru Perrey honed her design skills at several prominent landscape design companies in Los Angeles, including Jay Griffith Landscape, Venice/CA.
Besides winning multiple grants for public garden design projects in California and 'Sustainable Company of the Year 2010' at the Romania Green Building Awards, she served also as the director of an innovative district-wide school garden program for the City of Santa Monica’s Sustainable Programs division.
Mrs. Negru Perrey is an active member at the Romania Green Building Council, the San Diego chapter of the USGBC and the European Chapter of the World Green Building Council, where she conducts Sustainable Landscape Design workshops for architects, developers, engineers and other stakeholders of the building industry. Recently she has designed the exterior and landscape for the first 'Living Building Challenge' project in Europe - a library renovation in Cacica, Romania lead and financed by the RoGBC and its member companies.
