LEED course O+M 251: Understanding the Operations +Maintenance LEED Rating System

Gain essential knowledge of the LEED O+M rating system, including credit intents, requirements, and referenced standards; synergies among credits; and foundations of the LEED certification process. This course provides a foundation for pursuing the LEED AP O+M exam.

Course Prerequisites: General green building knowledge. It is also recommended that you have completed the LEED 201 course, either in-person or online. Some learning objectives for this course include recognizing the goal, intent, and unique aspects of credits in the EB:O+M rating system as well as strategies to meet them, understanding the costs and benefits of EB:O+M certification and identifying requirements and strategies to meet prerequisites and key credits.

Ideal audience: Professionals (architects, engineers, construction managers, contractors, developers, attorneys, etc.) already familiar with the core concepts of LEED but new to specifics of the BD+C rating systems or looking to brush up on them; individuals pursuing GBCI’s LEED AP BD+C credential; LEED APs wanting to earn CE hours for GBCI CMP.

This course qualifies for credit as an optional course for the "Romania Green Professional" Certification.

The workshop will be held at the RoGBC office, str Ialomicioarei, nr 21, Sector 1, Bucharest.

Trainer - Vessela Valtcheva-McGee

Vessela Valtcheva-McGee has extensive experience with sustainablity in both practice and education. She has been a LEED AP since 2005 and has been a founder and President of a USGBC chapter in the United States, serving as an officer of the executive committee for 6 years. In her capacity as an architect she has worked on LEED projects of national significance and as a consultant she managed the administration and documentation of numerous LEED rating systems on projects of various scopes and sizes.

In 2008 Vessela joined partners to form Triple Green Building Group, LLC - a full service sustainability consulting and education, company. She has worked with two major USGBC education providers in the US to deliver LEED workshops and co-authored a LEED Prep and LEED Practice Exam book for Professional Publications, Inc. She has since taken the company international creating a base in her native country of Bulgaria where she is serving as Director of Education and Development for the Bulgarian Green Building Council.

In 2010 The U.S. Green Building Council recognized Triple Green Building Group as an Authorized Education Delivery Partner providing the company with a license to deliver USGBC’s LEED curriculum courses for the international marketplace. Triple Green is recognized as one of a handful of trusted partners around the world who have obtained a license to deliver USGBC’s LEED curriculum.

Vessela Valtcheva-McGee holds a Master of Architecture degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design where she is an honorary guest lecturer. She is currently in the process of becoming a DGNB international auditor and a BREEAM international assessor.
