Green Mortgages: The benefits for homeowners, the finance and construction industry, and the greater economy
:
From: Tuesday 27 March 2012, 15:00
To: Tuesday 27 March 2012, 19:00
  • 27 March, 3:30 pm - 7:00 pm, Bucharest

The National Bank of Romania participated in a workshop organized by the Romania Green Building Council and WWF Romania to solicit feedback from the financial services industry for the rollout of Energy Efficient "Green Mortgages. The event included information from Vice Governor Bogdan Olteanu of the National Bank of Romania, Csibi Magor, Executive Director of WWF Romania, Steven Borncamp, President of the Romania Green Building Council, and Andrew Prelea, CEO of Ozone Homes, who  presented a green mortgage-qualified project in Bucharest.

Green Mortgages provide additional financial benefit to homeowners to
make early and cost efficient investments in the design and construction of residences. The higher monthly mortgage payments resulting from the additional investment in the home are compensated by significant reductions in monthly energy costs in the operation of the home. The product effectively allows the homeowner to have a higher quality and more energy efficient home without increasing the total cost of ownership. In addition, the incentive stimulates the development of green jobs related to the design services and installation of products related to the needs of sustainably-constructed homes.

Representatives of the banking industry are invited to contact the Romania Green Building Council to receive an invitation to the workshop.

Location: RoGBC office, str Ialomicioarei, no 21, district 1. Bucharest. Map and directions are available here.
