Fire safety in buildings: Protecting lives and the future of urban development
Location : JW Marriott Hotel, Bucharest
From: Tuesday 07 May 2019, 10:00
To: Tuesday 07 May 2019, 14:00

The Coalition for Fire Safety  Buildings is the honor to invite you to the conference "Fire Safety in Buildings: About Protecting Life and the Future of Urban Development", organized in partnership with "Adevărul".

The conference will take place at the JW Marriott Hotel in Bucharest on May 7, starting at 10:00am.

Every day in the EU, there are 5,000 fires, 90% of them in buildings. 11 people lose their lives in these unfortunate events and 190 others are injured, according to Fire Safe Europe. Approximately 126 billion euros are lost annually in Europe due to fire, and the environmental effects

In Romania, according to the data of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, between January 2012 and October 2018 there were more than 40,000 house fires, resulting in about 3,400 deaths or injuries;

The general trend is worrying. On the one hand, because of the use of more and more flammable materials for objects and arrangements in our homes, the fire can propagate in a single room in just 3 minutes of 25 minutes in 1950. On the other hand, thermal rehabilitation of buildings can increase the risk of materials used and inadequate fitting.

What is there to be done? What do the European Union and the Romanian authorities propose at a legislative level? How do we harmonize fire protection in modern buildings with the needs of their inhabitants?

Main themes to be addressed:

· 2019, an important year in Romania for fire safety
· Energy efficiency and security against fire hazards
· Global trends, European legislation and Romanian realities
How can we reduce the number of victims and material damage?

Speakers invited:

· Raed Arafat, Secretary of State - Ministry of Internal Affairs
· Ciprian Rosca, Secretary of State - Ministry of Regional Development and Administration
· Iulian Iancu, deputy - chairman of the Commission for Industries
