About
This course is optional for those who wish to obtain the "Green Building Professional" certificate.
The course focuses on the fundamental principles of landscape design and management from a sustainable perspective, particularly the relationship between humans and nature. It will cover the following topics: definitions, concepts, and sustainable approaches to landscape; sustainable landscape design; climate-sensitive urban design; learning from nature and integrating the positive effects of natural phenomena into design; designed landscapes in internationally recognized evaluation tools and certifications that demonstrate a high level of social sustainability and urban quality of life; case studies and best practices.
The course will discuss concepts such as sustainable landscape design, which evaluates its impact on the environment and the benefits it brings to a community (such as reducing water and energy consumption, improving air quality, enhancing human health, and diversifying recreational options). Sustainable landscape design is also a crucial component for creating internationally recognized projects that seek green building certifications like LEED, BREEAM, or DGNB. Topics covered will include site analysis, design considerations, plant selection, and installation for optimal results and easy maintenance.
